The North High School football team basked in the glory of a remarkable 4-0 start, experienced a wave of nostalgia as they hadn’t achieved such a feat since the year of 2007. The entire community reveled in the team’s newfound success, igniting a sense of pride and enthusiasm. However, their perfect streak came to a halt as the team is now 5-3 after their week 5 loss to Burncoat, serving as a reminder that each victory carries its own lessons and challenges.
Unfortunately North could not achieve the glory of making the play-off falling short to Sutton in the last game of the season. The setback, though disappointing, fuels their determination to regroup, learn from the defeats, and strive for excellence in the next 3 games ahead. To finish off the season with a winning record The team’s hard work, strategy, and unwavering team spirit have rekindled the pride that resonates throughout North High and the community. North will finish off the year with 14 seniors all completing this season with great performance 3 of which being team captains Kameen Kelley, Dylan Hendrickson, and Yvans Desir.
Juniors and underclassmen fall close behind in performance with most having great seasons. Senior running back Kameen Kelley has led the team in rushing with 127 carries for 899 rushing yards. He is now close to breaking a school record. Senior running back Dylan Hendrickson follows in 2nd with 75 carries for 432 yards and junior quarterback Nori Febles in 3rd with 50 carries for 404 yards such feet could not be met without the dominant offensive line. On the defensive side of the ball, the defensive line has also dominated being the star of that defense helping senior Yvans Desir lead the defense with 18.5 total tackles and 3 sacks. Junior Chris Basset and Nori Febles follow in a close 2nd with 14.5 tackles. Freshman Andy Mendoza is also having a great first year of high school football leading the team with 4 intercaptions with one of those being brought to the house for a touchdown and 12 tackles. This is a special team with a lot of special talent some leaving this year but still lots left in the tank for years to come.
