One Piece is a good anime. One Piece is about Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to becoming the pirate king and finding the greatest treasure of all time, the One Piece. This goal is very complex and very sought after though. Because that is every pirate’s dream in the One Piece world. This world is divided into 4 seas: The East Blue, The West Blue, The North Blue, and the South Blue. These seas were divided into the way they are by an unknown cause. Many people speculate that a huge blast divided them because there are 4 ancient weapons that need to be brought together to destroy the red line which divides these seas into the way they are. 

Luffy’s Ambition into seeking freedom is what drives the whole show and its purpose. Luffy is a rubber man which gives him the power of creativity. Which also gives him a lot of freedom. He is typically compared to the old Pirate King. The man who had it all, Wealth Fame and power, Gol D Roger. Through the show we see glimpses of Gol D Roger and his well known smile that Luffy has. Some people think Luffy is a reincarnation of Gol D Roger. But the truth is that the mystery about their smile lies in their name. The D in both Luffy and Rogers name stands for freedom in the One Piece world. The D clan is as old as the pirate era in One Piece.

Long ago, there lived a Pirate by the name of Joy Boy. He was freedom personified in a man. He was always laughing, always jumping and always dancing. Wherever Joy Boy went he brought freedom with him. People described him as a sun God. He had the powers of rubber just like Luffy but his power was more evolved than Luffy´s. There’s a phenomenon in the One Piece world called awakenings. Joy Boy had awakened Luffy’s Power over 800 years ago. And this awakening gave Joy Boy the power of rubber and beyond. Joy Boy can create anything he thought of and do anything he thought of. He pushed the boundaries of reality. Which gave him the nickname Joy Boy and the Sun God. Joy Boy ended up dying but his fruit lived on and for 700 years his fruit’s location was known as a mystery. Until 100 years went by and the government found it. It was classified as a fruit that cannot be eaten until the pirate known as Shanks infiltrated the world government and took the fruit.

Shanks ends up meeting Luffy and sees the resemblance of Gol D Roger in Luffy Shank´s old captain. But Shanks finds out Luffy has the D in his name and immediately connects the dots. Shanks sees potential in Luffy and since he sees his old captain in Luffy he puts the fruit in front of Luffy and lets Luffy eat it as a so-called mistake. But Shanks knows that a person’s will lives on through their devil fruit. So Luffy ends up eating the fruit and the journey begins. Shanks sacrificed an arm and his pride for the future entrusting the will of D and his old captain Onto Luffy to bring Joy and freedom into the world.

Luffy’s goal on becoming pirate king was born on the day he was held hostage by a pirate because he stuck his head in business he shouldn’t have. His mentor, the pirate known as Red Hair Shanks ends up saving him and

 sacrificing his arm for him. Luffy is brought to tears over this because he feels he messed up. But this was all a part of Shanks plan, Shanks wanted to lose 

that arm to inspire Luffy to be a pirate and show him that pirates can be good and not all are evil. He also lost that arm to entrust his will onto Luffy and his generation as he gave his Straw Hat to Luffy. The same Straw Hat that was given to him by the old Pirate king Gol D. Roger.

Skipping to the Middle part of One Piece. Luffy has progressed on his journey to becoming Pirate King after finally assembling his whole crew with a total of 10 crew mates. A swordsman, a navigator, a shipwright, a musician, a doctor, a cook, an ancient language reader, a helmsman, and a sniper. And then there’s Luffy the goofy captain  who always seems like he does not have a care in the world. But Luffy Has the biggest heart in the one piece world. He’s always goofing off and always laughing.  Every time Luffy battles an opponent he gives them a chance to think things through before they fight showing empathy. 

The power system in one piece is unique in many ways. The way people get their powers are from devil fruits. There are 3 types of devil fruits, Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan. Zoan allows you to turn into an animal, Paramecia allows you to have unique powers that vary from being a rubber man to being able to manipulate powers. And Logias are the rarest fruits of them all. Logia Devil Fruits allow you to become an element. Like fire, Ice, Light, Darkness etc.

There’s 1 more power system called Haki. There are 3 different types of Haki, Observation Haki, Armament Haki, and Conquerors Haki. With Observation Haki you can see things from really far away and be able to dodge attacks faster than normal. Or you can see into the future with advanced Observation Haki. Armament Haki lets you reinforce your body with strong invisible metal. And Conquerors Haki is the most rare to have. Only a select few in the one piece world have this ability. This ability allows you to knock out your opponents with your presence or have a conquerors Haki battle to see who has the stronger will.
