Across Worcester the public schools are there to help and provide for children and young teens and give them opportunities to have and gain success but we the students of North high believe there a visible differences in the funding and resources when we compare to school like South and Doherty.
Funding is and plays a major role in the quality of students educations, it affects everything from classroom tech and building conditions like heating and air conditioning and it also affects the funding of sports teams like the football team and the soccer team, track team and it also affects after school activities , many students like myself and Nana have noticed that South high and Doherty high have newer facilities and updated and equipment and more academic resources plus sport funding compared to us students at North high.
For example Doherty just recently got a brand new school building which is giving students access to new and modern classrooms and better athletic facilities and better tech and South also has benefited from strong investment in there programs mean while north has gotten little to no help in funding but some North students like myself and Nana feel like our school deserve the same level of attentions if not more compared to South like out students are more encaged and our sport team has and has done better than south with the little funding we got.
‘When u see other schools getting upgrades it makes you think when is ours coming said by” liz sarpong. Question like this are asked about how funding decisions are made and whether all Worcester students are being treated fairly and equally, but we the students know well that we are being treated unfairly some student have a plan if we don’t see change in the years coming cause we know it takes time but at the same time If nothing changes we can wirte to the people who are in charge of the funding of the Worcester public school and write to them and protest foru fair funding to all public school.
School funding mostly depends on district budgets and the city and long term construction plans and stuff large projects and plans like building a new school or a field will take some time and years and it will take a large amount of financial investment but student of north high are saying that we should be treated with the same way that the other schools are being treated.
Despite these concerns north high still continues to show strong school spirit and the students take part in the sport teams ,clubs and academics programmes while they are also pushing for more improvement in sport and school funding, we the student think that highlighting and asking questions about this inequality will bring some positive change to it but we know its going to take some work and protest to make a change but we the students are ready and willing to do what we can to make sure every thing is fair and we the students get treated and get the same amount of funding.
At the end of the day all students in Worcester deserve and should have access to a safe learning place and school and they should also have the same opportunities in sports and school that can help them prepare for the next step in their future, As the city of Worcester keeps to grow we the student of north hope that we all have and secure the same funding that will give us the same amount of opportunities as other students at Doherty and South high.
