Most people see the pottery club and may say “Who cares about that, it’s just clay.” But if you actually visit the pottery club you’ll see it has some of the most creative pottery you’ve seen! The teacher Ms.Buckley is extremely supportive of whatever you’re making! She also is willing to teach you how to do things if you’re confused! The kids who go there are also extremely nice. Now people may think “Well what’s the point of joining if all you’re doing is playing with clay?” Well it’s more than just playing with clay! You can make anything with clay! Like I’m literally making a clay shark! I’ve seen people make dinosaurs, bowls, plates, vases and so much more! It’s so cool seeing people come together and get creative and share their ideas with each other!

In the pottery club we are actively working on projects. Big, small, simple and crazy. I’ve seen so many cool things be made in the club. Everyone there is willing to help you with something if your confused on something and its honestly awesome to see people care. For the amount of time it takes for the pottery to be made it’s worth it because once its glazed and fresh out of the kiln its so worth it because you can see your masterpiece in full beauty!
One thing we say in the pottery club is “Mistakes are just giving your creations personality and making it unique!” because we don’t want someone to see they messed up then be like “Well I messed up I suck.” because no one sucks at pottery! even if you make a simple bowl its still something YOU made with YOUR hands! We are also extremely anti AI because AI could never make pottery as well as humans!

Something you may not realize is once a piece of pottery is in the kiln and after its fired it will last forever! (if it doesn’t break accidentally) Its a cool way to leave a piece of you on the earth forever so people in the future can find it and see what YOU made! You never know maybe your piece will sell for millions one day or be seen as a historical sculpture!

Personally I feel like everyone should try pottery at least once in their life if they have the opportunity to because you never know it may lead you to find a new hobby or even make a career out of it! I remember when I joined the pottery club I was like “Eh I probably won’t like this.” but now that I’ve gone more then once it turns out I loved it! I even bought clay of my own so I can practice at home!
