Getting ready for a sports season takes more than just showing up at the start of the season thinking that you’re ready to play, you the athlete need to prepare your bodies and minds ahead of time so that you can perform under the pressure to your best of ability. The preseason training is important because it helps you practice the things you need to and build strength endurance and help your overall fitness and helps you reduce the chance of you or your teammates getting hurt and it helps with team chemistry.
One of the most important parts of getting ready for the season is cardio training. Cardio training like running, sprinting and biking can help you improve your cardio and endurance so you don’t get tired or winded fast for example if you run long distance it can help you build your stamina over time along with cardio your strength training is important too for example exercises like push ups, squats and weight lifting helps build your muscle and power you need which is important because you need them to perform because your sport needs you to be strong and have some power and strength depending if your sport is physical.

Plus the strength and endurance, you also need to work on your speed and your agility drills like the ladder drill and short sprints help improve your quick and short movement and helps your reaction time which is very important if you play a sport like football and your a wide receiver and if you play basketball and soccer where you will be sprinting short distance and you will need fast reactions and some strength because they are contact sports.

Being flexible is one important thing too. You need to stretch before and after games or practices because it helps you feel better, move better and helps with any injuries you may have.
You should have a rest day too because that’s when most of your gains happen when you are resting plus getting enough sleep will allow your muscles to heal and grow stronger. If you don’t give your body the proper rest you will become tired and burn out faster and even get injured. Having good nutrition also plays a big role in health. You have to eat protein, carbohydrates and some healthy fats to help you perform to your best ability, also drinking water with electrolytes also plays a big role because it keeps you hydrated longer and longer.
The last part and one of the most important parts of being an athlete is your mental preparation. It is just as important if not the most important thing you as an athlete should have. You should set your goals so you can stay focused and remain consistent with your training. Having a strong mindset can make a big difference in how you perform in practice and game which will show how much you want to win and will get you to where you want to go in the future.
