Jehovah’s Witnesses are a Christian group who focus on following the Bible and living by its teachings. They use Gods name, Jehovah, and are known for sharing their beliefs with others, often by going door to door and public preaching.
They gather for worship and value a strong sense of community, and they’re one of the kindest communities I have ever known. Their beliefs affect how they treat holidays, military service,
and certain medical treatments. There are multiple congregations worldwide and they offer bibles in over 1,100 different languages, including over 100 sign languages.
In my experience, Jehovah’s Witnesses are a welcoming community because they greet newcomers with open arms, show interest, and offer things like free bible studies and regular invitations to gatherings, which can make people like myself feel included quickly, meetings are structured to be accessible, and members are encouraged to support one another, creating a strong sense of belonging. I’ve had friends tell me their church has age groups, and the teens are often shoved with the children in basements or looked down upon by the adults, I do not think I have ever experienced that exclusion. Everyone is friends with anyone of any age, most of the people I talk to are grandparents or adults with children of their own. No one is separated into groups, and no one has a feeling of superiority, the elders treat themselves like everyone else and they never act stuck up because of their important roles in the congregation.
Despite stereotypes, many describe the community as welcoming and supportive. “Our meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend,” a sister noted, inviting anyone curious to learn more. A common misconception is that Jehovah’s Witnesses are unfriendly or closed off, but members say their outreach is meant to be positive, not pushy: “We enjoy talking with our neighbors about the Bible and listening to their thoughts.”

They also clarify beliefs that are often misunderstood. For example, while they avoid political involvement, they explain, “We remain neutral in political matters because we follow Jesus’ example.”
Overall, Jehovah’s Witnesses say their focus is on creating a warm, respectful community centered on faith. While misconceptions sometimes paint them as cruel or strict, Jehovah’s Witnesses say their goal is the opposite.. to build a warm, caring community and treat others with patience, empathy, and genuine kindness.
